Sky Watch: My Obsession With America's Greatest Show Horse
Spring 2023, University Press of Kentucky
In 1979, a young trainer from Danville, Kentucky took on a two-year-old American Saddlebred colt so wild, he had to be herded into his stall like a bull. No one expected Sky Watch to win a World Grand Championship title, but by the end of his career, he trotted away with five. Sky Watch: My Obsession with America's Greatest Show Horse weaves the rise of one special horse into the narrator's own story with the American Saddlebred, a breed that's now in decline. Saddlebreds might have saved her, but can she save the Saddlebred? Sky Watch is about change, legacy, and the love between human and horse.
